Hard Rules (Dirty Money Book 1) by Lisa Renee Jones
Review Tour: February 13th-17th
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Wall Street meets the Sons of Anarchy in the smoldering, scorching first novel in the explosively sexy new Dirty Money series from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones.
How bad do you want it?
The only man within the Brandon empire with a moral compass, Shane Brandon is ready to take his family’s business dealings legitimate. His reckless and ruthless brother, Derek wants to keep Brandon Enterprises cemented in lies, deceit, and corruption. But the harder Shane fights to pull the company back into the light, the darker he has to become. Then he meets Emily Stevens, a woman who not only stirs a voracious sexual need in him, but becomes the only thing anchoring him between good and evil.
Emily is consumed by Shane, pushed sexually in ways she never dreamed of, falling deeper into the all-encompassing passion that is this man. She trusts him. He trusts her, but therein lies the danger. Emily has a secret, the very thing that brought her to him in the first place, and that secret that could that destroy them both.
Can I just say Wow! ok, I will, Wow! Lisa Renee Jones has done it again with a series about greed, lust, lies and family war in a novel described as Wall Street meets The Sons of Anarchy. The action here starts from the beginning pages and keeps right on going until the very end of the book, where, we are left clutching our heads for more.
This is, of course, the first book in the series, and in true Lisa Renee fashion, we are left dangling like bait on a hook. But that’s what makes it fun, if not a little frustrating. We start at the beginning with a young woman who witnesses her crime boss brother beat a man just for flirting with her. Six months later we are introduced to Emily, who bumps into our deliciously alpha hero in a coffee shop. She grabs the wrong coffee, which leads to a fascinating conversation with Shane Brandon, lawyer and now soon to be CEO of Brandon Enterprises. A company with arms everywhere that are dirty that Shane is trying to clean up.
Emily runs off, which, as it turns out, she’s awfully good at doing in this book. Of course, she runs into Shane again, and when they hook up…let’s just say you’ll need a fan, a bucket of ice, and probably your air conditioner just to cool down because the sex scene is so hot!
But, secrets abound, and Shane is also dealing with his dirty brother and his father, who’s dying, but still making life difficult. And Shane knows Emily is hiding something, if she’ll just open up. So much going on here, but you need to read this for your self. Trust me, you’ll love every page of it, right up until the cliff hanger of an ending.
