Shameless by M. Malone and Nana Malone

I am the thing that goes bump in the night. I am a liar, a protector…a killer…I am Noah Blake.

There is only one light in my darkness, one bright ray in the storm of my life. Lucia DeMarco. And I’ll do anything for her. Anything except show her who I really am…an assassin. Well, former assassin. I don’t really do that anymore…usually.

It would be easier if she didn’t call me names. Asshole, control freak…shameless. It would also be easier if she didn’t look at me with those trusting gray eyes. If I didn’t dream about the perfect curve of her — never mind all that. The point is she’s digging into my world, my secrets, and it’s going to get her killed.

But first, we have another more immediate concern. Lucia is going on a date—With someone else…

Review

First off, be aware that this ends on a cliffy as I call them. That’s because this juicy goodness from M. Malone and Nana Malone is told in a trilogy of books. I’m not always crazy about that format, and I usually wait until all of the books are out first, but Noah sounded like such a hottie I couldn’t resist.

This falls under the ‘Best Friend’s Sister’ trope, and it’s a good one. Lucia is still mourning the loss of her brother, who was killed 6 years earlier. She’s determined to get to the answer of who killed him. Noah is her brother’s best friend. He owns a security company, and is doing his level best to keep Lucia from digging into her brother’s death, because the more she digs, the more danger she is in. He also wants her, but is determined to keep away. You know, the old ‘I want her, can’t have her, she’s too good for me” and so on. The sparks fly and oooh wait for it….big cliffy at the end! Despite that? Loved it!! And so will you!

Brent interjected. “I should probably be going.”

Lucia gripped his forearm harder. “No. Stay. Noah is going. Aren’t you Noah?”

Noah grinned, his devilish smile bringing a mischievous twinkle to his eyes. Looking at the two of them in close proximity, Lucia could see clearly that there was no competition. Noah had dark sooty lashes that framed those intense whiskey-colored eyes, high cheekbones, a straight Roman nose, and full lips that tilted crookedly when he smiled. The man was gorgeous and he knew it. Which was a problem. Because he often used it to get what he wanted.

Brent, in comparison, also had dark hair, but not as dark as Noah’s. It also didn’t fall in disarray where some parts looked styled and other parts unkempt, but mostly looking like he’d just rolled out of bed. Or he’d rolled out of bed with someone. Brent’s eyes were a pale blue. Kind. He was cute in that boy-next-door, All-American kind of way. He didn’t look like he belonged in a fashion magazine, not like Noah did.

Feeling a little uncharitable comparing Brent so unfavorably with Noah, she had to concede that he was at least tall. Not as tall as Noah, but few men could compare to Noah’s towering height. Besides it wasn’t about looks, or height, or charisma, anyway.

Annoyed with herself, Lucia closed her eyes, hoping maybe this was all a bad dream, but when she opened them again Noah was still there. With him in the room, it was hard to breathe. He dominated and sucked up all the air, silently pulling her towards him with his gravitational force alone. It was like poor Brent wasn’t even there.

“Now, Lucia, I know you’d like to think you’re in charge right now. But you’re not. You don’t know this guy. And you invited him back to your place? I thought I taught you better than that.”

Brent tried to make an escape again. “Lucia, why don’t you deal with this guy? And we’ll try this again later.”

“No. You’re not going anywhere.”

Noah pushed himself to a seated position. “Oh yes he is. Because, you and I need to discuss what the hell this is for.” He held up the party gift from the bachelorette party.

Oh no. Oh no. Oh no.

In that moment, Lucia prayed to every saint her grandmother had ever forced her to pray to. Prayed to the Virgin Mary then to Jesus. Heck, for good measure, she added Buddha in there too. Just in case. But nothing happened. The ground did not open and swallow her.

Instead, she stood with her hand on Brent’s arm, staring at Noah as he held up the largest purple dildo she’d ever seen in her life.

Brent’s mouth fell open but no sound came out. As mortified as she was, Lucia couldn’t really blame him. The stupid thing was over a foot long, and thick. Really, really thick. Like thicker than a cucumber. She’d certainly never used the thing. It was a gag gift.

“How dare you go through my things!” she squeaked.

Noah shrugged. “I didn’t go through your things. The drawer was open. The thing was practically sticking out of it. Making its escape.”

Next to her, Brent shifted his gaze to her.

“That’s not mine,” she whispered. “I m-mean it is but I’ve never used it. It’s a gag gift from a bachelorette party.” She swung her gaze to Noah. “Put that down.”

“Not a chance. I mean, this thing is fascinating. I’m no stranger to toys myself. As far as I’m concerned, they can always enhance the situation. I’m not one of those guys that feel jealous or threatened. Matter of fact, I’m all for a little solo play. But this thing.” He held it up and shook it around. “Even I’ve never seen anything like it. And I’ve had a lot of practice.”

He turned his attention to Brent. “No disrespect to you, but I don’t think you can live up to this. It vibrates and rotates! Even I feel a little frightened by this thing.”

Screw the ground opening up and swallowing her whole. Just shoot her now. That would end this quickly. Shoot her. Send her little behind to heaven. Because she was done. Noah was bending the dildo around as it wiggled in his hands. He pushed the button, and the damn thing rotated on its own, making a whirring sound. Oh God. Could this get any worse?

Brent fixed his gaze on her. “I’m going to go.”

“No, please don’t go.”

She lunged and grabbed at the dildo, tugging when Noah refused to release it. The silicone material bent in ways Lucia was sure it wasn’t intended to as they fought over it. This was easily one of the most undignified moments of her life but she just couldn’t take it anymore. Noah’s smug face as he watched her struggling to get a better grip on the wiggling, gyrating piece of plastic only made it worse.

“Ugh, let go!”

In a fit of sudden anger, Lucia kicked him in the shin. And in his surprise, Noah let go of his end of the toy. The next few seconds would forever play in her mind in slow motion as she watched the toy fly end over end and hit Brent directly in the face.

“Ouch!”

Lucia covered her mouth in horror as the toy fell to his feet. The silence that followed was only broken by the sounds of the still-running toy, wiggling over the carpet.

Noah guffawed. “My bad. Did I get it in your mouth? Don’t worry, it doesn’t mean anything. What’s a little dick in the mouth between friends, am I right?”

NYT & USA Today Bestselling author M. Malone lives in the Washington, DC metro area with her three favorite guys, her husband and their two sons. She holds a Master’s degree in Business from a prestigious college that would no doubt be scandalized at how she’s using her expensive education.

Independently published, she has sold more than 1/2 million ebooks in her two series THE ALEXANDERS and BLUE-COLLAR BILLIONAIRES. Since starting her indie journey in 2011 with the runaway bestselling novella “Teasing Trent”, her work has appeared on the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists more than a dozen times.

Nana Malone

USA Today Best Seller, Nana Malone’s love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense she “borrowed” from her cousin.

It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She’s been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.

While she waits for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin, in the meantime Nana works out her drama, passion and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as she thinks she is.

Erin McCarthy’s Let Me In is the middle child in the Blurred Lines series. The Characters are all connected in some way, but each book can be read as a standalone.

Be forewarned, the book does start out with an episode of domestic violence and abuse, but it’s written well and handled the same. Aubrey decides after an increasingly abusive relationship with Jacob and a couple of knocked out teeth, to run.

She makes it to her friend Cat’s house on Vinelhaven, a tiny island off the coast of Maine. When she gets some distressing news, she goes for a walk and ends up over a cliff. She’s rescued by Riker, a quiet, intense man she’s seen a couple of times outside his home. After getting to know each other he becomes her protector, her friend, and her lover. But can this ex-military man save her from her?….Grab a copy and find out!

Loved Ms. McCarthy’s writing in this, it kept me riveted and entertained the whole time. The characters were all just wonderful, and I don’t say that very often. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series!

The Furnace Man (Death Isle #5) by Kera Faire

furnace

Don’t piss off the furnace man.

It might be a standing joke around the glass factory—he’ll mix you with the sand and burn you, leaving nothing left to discover—but Lindsey Earnshaw is about to find out the truth behind it. Placed there to spy on the place on behalf of the government, a warning message brings forth not only a dead body, but also the one man she’s never forgotten.

Michael Hoult cannot believe his eyes, when his ex-wife turns out to be the receptionist on duty. Having to drug her in order to not blow his cover will not earn him her renewed submission, neither will whisking her away to the Death Isle. Duty first, though. It cost him his marriage all those years ago, but with Lindsey now working for the same side, can they not only catch a killer, but also rediscover each other?

ReviewFBknotty1

So excited that we have another Death Isle book out by Kera Faire! I just LOVE these books. (Admittedly, the pigs on the island make me a tad nervous though.) I’d love to be carried off and interrogated, maybe by two dispatchers. (as long as I wasn’t dispatched yeah?) Ahh those good cop bad cop kinky fantasies.

Anywho, back to the book, The Furnace Man is the latest Dark Isle book to hit the shelves and it’s a juicy one. Just like with Andie and Rio, Lindsey and Michael are at an impasse in their marriage because Michael has had to lie about his job, so Lindsey leaves. But instead of turning to hooking. (You’ll have to pick up Killer At Christmas, a novella, to figure THAT out) Lindsey gets a job with our old pal Darke.

She ends up at a glass making factory where she has an assignment, but what happens when she’s on the look-out for someone who’s using the furnace to hide bodies and she runs into her ex-husband Michael? It’s an interesting trip to the Dark Isle this time.

Just loved this one! The stories are short, but oh so good! And frankly, it’s fun as a Yank trying to discern Kera’s Scot’s vernacular. Thank Goodness for Google! But hey, it makes it that much more fun!

Excerpt:

“Nice now, safe word or suck me off.” He waited as she gulped and hesitated. She swayed towards him and straightened. Many people didn’t involve sex in their play; he and Lindsey always had and that was how he wanted it to be now. However, he remembered oral was something she’d never been keen on and eventually said it was a soft limit. It had never changed and nor had she gone down on him more than a few times, and never ever swallowed his cum. Not something he’d ever encountered before or indeed after Lindsey. She’d tried and after gagging and throwing up, had said swallowing was a big fat red no-no. He’d accepted it, but had missed that special closeness only being jerked off by your partner could bring. But Lindsey was his lady, his sub, he had loved her—still did—and her pleasure came first.

Perhaps it was unfair to throw her into this scenario so quickly, but he knew his pet. She could go round the houses forever. He intended to show her he would not be fazed or upset by her limits whatever.

“Pet, you need to tell me where you are in this. Safe word.” He rapped his demands out. “Now.”

“Green to lick,” she said so softly he had to strain to hear. “I hope.” She took his cock in between her hands and delicately licked the head.

His pre-cum leaked fast and furious and she drew back and looked at it.

Typical. The one time I could do with it taking its time, it comes like the clappers.

“It’s fine,” she said with awe in her voice. “Green.” She took more of his length in her mouth and began to nibble and suck.

He saw stars as the tug and pull became stronger. God almighty did she know the affectshe was having on him? He was going to come if she didn’t slow down or pull back.

“Pet, enough, I’m about to shoot.” Michael tugged her hair, hard enough to make her release him. Or so he hoped.

“Lindsey. Pet, stop now.” Did he sound Dom-like enough? It was bloody hard when half of him would like no more than to fuck her mouth until he filled it with cum, and watched the excess run down her cheeks. But he didn’t truly want to. Not yet. Baby steps.

His command evidently got to her because she moved her mouth from his cock with a gentle plop. The confusion and hurt in her eyes hit him. “Pet, baby steps,” he said softly as he helped her to her feet. “I would happily fill your mouth and fuck it. But, not today. We have so much more to explore and hopefully have a lifetime to do everything in.” Would she understand without him getting too graphic? “I want to fuck your sweet pussy. Fill you that way. Relearn how you sigh and how well our bodies mesh. Make you scream as you come. Shudder and shake for me. Show you how much I love you, have never stopped loving you, and want this to be our happy ever after.”

Lindsey sighed and her eyes became misty. “Sir, My Michael, oh yes. I feel the same. You are mine.  My lover, my friend and my Sir. I want it all as well.”

“First then.” Michael paused, tugged off her cardigan and threw it onto the floor. That’s better. Now…” He unzipped her jeans so he could run one finger around her panty leg. “Firstly, I want you naked so I can spank your sweet ass until it’s the rosy color of that cushion over there.” He slid her panties and jeans down her legs and helped her step out of them. “I want to see my handprint and know that outline shows you are mine. Arms up.” Her t-shirt followed the cardigan. “Stand still, just like that with your arms up. Don’t lower them.”

Michael waited as she did as he demanded, grabbed her ass hard to keep her in place and lowered his lips to the lacy cups of her bra.

And sucked hard.

Lindsey bucked. “Oh grief oh my, oh hell…Oh god, Green bloody green.”

He took that as a good sign, let go of her nipples and ignored her moan as he blew on each hard nub in turn. Deftly he unclipped her bra and flung it in the direction of the rest of her clothes. Now he wished he’d taken her to the playroom. He knew no one was playing in it and he had a cupboard full of delicious things he could use on her. All still new and in their packets. Here, he’d have to be innovative and make do.

At least he had his hands. Michael unclenched his fingers and watched her pupils dilate as he smacked her ass a couple of times. “What color are clothes pegs?” he asked casually. “Specifically on your breasts, nipples and ass.”

“Clo… Pegs?” Her voice rose to a high-pitched squeak. “Pegs on my…oh my…” She blinked. “Can you?”

Michael smiled. “Oh yes. But maybe not yet?”

She nodded. “Perhaps not. I need to rediscover pain, I reckon. Let’s say yellow.”

“Then maybe we should start.” He pondered for a moment. “Here, I think.” He sat on the nearest chair and pulled her to lie over his lap, head to one side, legs to the other. “Color, pet?”

He could visualize her rolling her eyes at him for being so insistent. However she answered him readily, and politely. “Green, Sir.”

“Then, pet, count. Ten on each side and then I’m going to fuck your wet and willing pussy.”

“Yes, Sir,” she said fervently.

Michael laughed as he raised his hand. He hit her right buttock firmly and then rubbed away the sting as she gasped.

“O…One.”

“Good girl.” He repeated the actions on the other globe. By six on each side Lindsey was writhing and he opened his legs enough to reach between them and pinch her clit hard. “No coming or I’ll stop now.”

“Eh?” She sounded dazed. “F…flip, no…no. Don’t stop.”

“Then behave.”

ReviewFBknotty1

This is the second book in the Family First series by April Zyon, a favorite of mine. This one is a little bit of a darker read, but it’s still a great book and full of page turning satisfaction that we’ve all come to know and love from Ms Zyon.

Emily has a great many talents and killing is one of them. She’s with an organization that takes out the bad guys. The rapists, the child molestors, the killers. She’s alson in love with Tony. But Tony has no idea who she is.

Tony is a killer too, and one day, someone decides to take Emily away from him. Will he get her back? Will her 5 hulking ‘brothers’ let him? You’ll have to grab yourself a copy to find out!

This book was so, so, good! Emily was a tough, sassy girl who could stand on her own, but she reveled under the love of a good man. And Tony? Tony is a wonderful dichotomy who loves hard and fights just as hard. April knocks this one right out of the park!

Excerpt:

Emily and Antonio met by pure chance. She had been thinking of their meeting just as much as she had been thinking of their past, mostly because she was thinking of a future with him. She was thinking of a future with him because of another huge secret she was holding from him.

She sighed and closed her eyes. God, she had so much to tell him. She just prayed the man would understand. Then again, he was a killer as well, with a code as strong as her own. She lay in their bed and waited for him. As soon as he entered the room, all thoughts of telling him anything flew out the door and instead she knew he needed to simply forget. They had been together for five months, in that time they hadn’t used protection from the first moment they got together which brought her to the thoughts she was having about their futures now.

That was the thing about them sharing professions. She could read his body language better than he likely knew she could. Emily rose to her feet and walked to Tony. As she moved toward him, she stripped out of her negligée and stood before him in all her naked glory. She knew what he saw. Emily wasn’t shy about her body any longer. She now embraced her womanly attributes, and that was all thanks to Antonio.

She had scars, ones that couldn’t be hidden but had been explained away easily enough with the smallest of lies, ones she had hated to tell him and couldn’t wait to tell him the truth on. As he had told her before, her breasts were the size of ripe grapefruits, her skin a pale milk color, and her hair as red as fire. Or so he liked to tell her.

She moved to Tony silently and began to strip him of his clothes, loving the way her pale skin looked against his very dark skin. Sliding Tony’s shirt from his body, she scraped her nails over his beautifully toned six pack abs and looked up into his troubled eyes. “Hard day?” she asked while working on his pants.

She felt emboldened by this man. It was hard to imagine that before him she had been a virgin. She had killed a hundred horrible men but never had taken a lover. Tony had been intense, wonderful, and she had known from the moment she met him that he was the one for her.

“You have no idea, sweetheart.” Tony took her hand in his and shook his head. “You know that is not how I play.” He growled lightly at her and then leaned down, taking one of her nipples into his mouth and suckling hard. “I do love being greeted at the door by you naked, however. From here out I think you should greet me like this when I come home, but only when I text you and tell you I’m coming home alone. I would hate to kill a friend who saw my woman naked.”

She shivered. Had any other man demanded anything of her like that she would kill them and leave their bodies for the cops to find. Period. She wasn’t one to be commanded, but with Tony, it turned her on. She seemed to need it. “Yes, Sir.” She bowed her head in supplication. She knew she would do anything he asked her to do. She would because she knew he would always ensure she had pleasure, no matter what. Tony would do anything for Emily just as she would for him.

“Are you hungry?”

“Only for you, Emmy girl, only for you,” Tony said only a second before he picked her up and carried her to their bedroom.

Emily held back her laughter when he tossed her on the bed, because she saw the look of sheer bleak need on his face. She reached back, grabbed the headboard, and watched him strip. He all but radiated the need to control, the need to dominate in a way that eclipsed anything they had ever shared before, and it almost scared her, almost.

But a judge gave him a chance for a new life when he was sent to the military, now that judge is lying in a coma, his wife dead, all because of the Brothers and their leader, Brandon.

Jake is being sent in to protect their witness. Little does he know that he knows tattoo artist Eva Grey. She changed her look and her name, now she’s swearing vengeance, especially on Brandon, for the death of her sister 7 years earlier.

This was a regrettably short read, but was so, so, good! Very enjoyable and hard to put down. I just loved Eva and Jake’s chemistry and the suspense.

Kirk Ryan is an NSA fixer. He’s called in by the MacKenzies on a low day for them all. Kirk swears retribution on their behalf. His op takes him to Bali, to stop a group of rogue SEALs from killing a group of Interpol reps and rescuing 3 of their own. He also has a GEM agent working with him, Suraya.

The two of them are on a race against the clock to help rescue the hostages and stop the missile from blowing up. They also are fighting their attraction to each other.

Loved this book! Gennita Low writes a wonderful and realistic military novel/novella every time, and this is no exception.

I shouldn’t have remembered him.

He was just a guy who walked through a restaurant. I didn’t know his name. We never made eye contact. There was no connection between us at all.

But I could feel him.

The tingle down my spine. The command in his presence. The snap of tension in the air around him. That was the first time I saw him, and I was captivated.

The second time was different.

He was in the mysterious back elevator of my apartment building. Our eyes met for a fleeting second before the doors closed, and I was staggered. My breath was robbed. My senses on high alert. My body hummed.

That was just the beginning.

He was the leader of the mafia. I was about to fall in love with him, and his name…

First, let me say I really wish I’d read the first two Carter books. I’m kicking myself in the fanny for not doing so, especially since a third is coming out. Time to save up my money so I can get a Carter fix because Cole was completely incredible!

Addison is still trying to get over the loss of her husband Liam when her friend Sia recommends she move into an exclusive apartment building closer to her work. After putting it off, she finally does it after having awful nightmares. Her new building comes with a friendly doorman, hot neighbors, and a building manager able to do just about anything.

Then enter mystery man. Addy meets Cole, a man she’d seen with a group of other men at her favorite restaurant, when she starts getting to know him, he tells her that he can’t tell her much of anything about himself. His last name, his job, his life. But Addy goes along with it. Secrets have a way of coming out, and both of them have some pretty big ones that could destroy them both.

There were some big twists and turns in this book, and as I said, had I read Carter, I might have been better prepared for a few. But Cole and Addy are one hot couple and I just couldn’t put this book down. I sincerely hope there are more because Tijan rocked this big time! Just incredible!

Excerpt

Once inside the elevator, I stood to one side, watching him. He returned my gaze.

We still did not touch.

My chest tightened, hoping no one would call the elevator at that moment. We sailed past the lobby, the second floor, and stopped at mine. I put in the code, and the doors opened to my home.

I drew in a breath, filling my lungs again. God, it was time.

Stepping out with shaky knees, I bypassed the light switch. The full moon lit up my entire floor. I went to the kitchen and paused at the island. “Did you want something to drink?” I caught sight of the tequila and wine on the counter. There was more than enough.

Cole stepped up behind me and followed my gaze. “Were you going to have a party?” he asked, his breath coating the back of my neck.

I shivered, closing my eyes for one delicious moment. “I stocked up. I thought a friend was coming over tonight.”

His hand rested on my back, nudging my sweater aside to touch my skin. “He?”

“She. Sia.” I looked over my shoulder. He was so close. “She stood me up for a date.”

A faint smile showed. “I need to send her a thank-you card.”

“Please don’t sign it.”

“Why not?”

I turned around, easing my back against the island. Cole placed his hands on either side of me, trapping me in place.

“Because she’s slightly obsessed with you, though she’s in love with someone else now. She could circle back,” I joked.

“Me?”

“We saw you one night.”

“When?” He leaned away, but his hands remained on the counter. It was like he was giving me breathing space on purpose.

“At Gianni’s. We went there the night I moved in.”

He didn’t move, but I could feel him pulling away. A protest started in my head, but I bit back the words. He didn’t reply. He was waiting for me instead.

I continued, “You came in with a bunch of men and went upstairs. That was it.”

His eyes narrowed. “Did you talk to anyone?”

“What do you mean?”

“The staff?”

“About you?”

“About anything.”

My forehead wrinkled. “Sia networked with the hostess. They exchanged cards. Sia said the girl was a model. She recognized her from the Gala. That was it. Oh, well, another server sat with us for a drink later on. But they mostly talked with Sia about the Gala and about photographers—stuff like that.”

He relaxed, his hands loosening their hold on the counter. I was scared to ask what he was so worried they’d told us.

“I don’t know who you are.” I lifted a hand, placing it on his chest. His heart was racing, just like mine. My mouth parted in surprise. “If that’s what you’re worried about.”

He glanced down at my hand and held still. He was thinking something over. I held my tongue, worried it was me, that he was second-guessing this night for us. I wanted to tell him there was nothing to worry about, but it sounded ridiculous. I really had no idea. So I waited it out, my heart pressing against my rib cage.

When he looked back up, the hunger was in his eyes again—dark, primal, and more evident than ever. He took my hand and leaned in, closing the distance between us. With his other hand, he cupped the side of my face. “I wasn’t second-guessing this. I want you to know that.” His touch was tender.

“What were you thinking about?”

“Something else, but it wasn’t you.”

“This is one of those moments where you wish you could tell me, but you can’t? Not yet?”

The corner of his mouth lifted. His eyes moved from mine to my lips. “Something like that, yes.”

“Mmmm-hmmm,” I started to tease, but then his head dipped down, and his lips were on mine.

I gasped. The pleasure was immediate. His mouth was gentle, but as he felt my body’s reaction, he applied pressure. His touch grew more demanding, then I was kissing him back. I wanted more. Someone groaned. That was me.

His hand slid around to the back of my neck. He held me in his grip as his mouth explored mine, opening over me and slipping inside. My hands grasped his shoulders, just holding on. All I could focus on was his tongue. I met his with mine and reveled in the sensation. But it wasn’t enough. Need shot through my whole body.

My hands slid under his shirt and moved over his back and shoulders. His body was just as powerful as his presence. I felt the shift of his muscles. They trembled under my hands. The feeling was intoxicating. I had power over him, and I wanted more. I wanted to see how much power I actually had.

Pulling back, I studied him.

He was panting lightly. So was I.

I could see him wondering what I was going to do, so I reached back to the counter and started to lift myself. His hands caught the backs of my thighs, and he lifted me the rest of the way. Now sitting on the edge of the island, my legs parted, and he was back between them. His mouth went right to mine.

I couldn’t get over what I was doing. I didn’t care.

I didn’t think I would care the next day, the day after, or however long this lasted. I had no clue. I only knew I had one night. One long night.

Author Information

I didn’t begin writing until after undergraduate college. There’d been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can’t blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I’m hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! And I hope you keep enjoying my future stories.

forhiseyesonly_highresA night he can’t forget

Five years ago, Nick Markovic found himself consumed by his quest for vengeance. The one time he managed to find peace was in the arms of Hayley Dalton. Being with her was like bathing in sunlight, and he ached to feel that again, but he couldn’t. He gave his oath to Hayley’s cousin Desiree, his partner at McKay-Taggart and Knight, that he’d never let his darkness infect Hayley’s innocent world.

A spark she can’t put out

It was years before that Hayley offered everything she had to Nick. After that one amazing night, all she wanted was to be his forever. Unfortunately, Nick’s reaction was to walk away from her and never look back. The warm and caring man she’d discovered was gone, and after Des’s death, he’d only grown colder. But when Hayley finds herself in mortal danger, she’s forced to seek protection from the man who broke her heart.

A flame that threatens to consume them both

Haunted by the women he failed, Nick can’t allow himself to grow close to Hayley again. Running to stay ahead of the powerful forces that endanger their lives, they travel from the lush Garden in London to the glittering lights of Rio. As the threat against her becomes clearer, he realizes that to keep her safe he must confront the demons from his past, even if it costs him a future with the woman he loves.

For His Eyes Only is lucky number 13 in the incredible Masters and Mercenaries series by the incomparable Lexi Blake. If you are really keeping count though, this is the 24th tome containing the crew from the newly renamed McKay-Taggart-Knight Security Services. (I so want a job.) I’ll even be a nice knotty girl and give you a list at the end of my review of all of the novels, novellas, and even a cookbook! (Thank-You Sean! ♥ ) Honestly, this is one of my absolute favorite series, and I’ve been reading it since Sean seduced Grace in The Dom Who Loved Me. (My heart STILL belongs to Liam O’Donnell, I just love that sexy Irishman. *A Dom Is Forever*)

As I was saying, we are now at book 13, and this time it’s dark, sexy and broody Russian Nick Markovic. For those of you who need a quick reminder, Nick was one of the operatives along on the mission to rescue Ten. His partner, and lover Des is killed during that op. We now move across the pond to London to the Knight part of the operation, Nick stays mostly to his rooms and drinks far too much vodka. Not only is he thinking of Des and what she was mixed-up in, but he’s also thinking of her cousin Hayley. He had one amazing night with Hayley five years earlier, and almost had a shot at a different life. But, not wanting to subject Hayley to dangers from his past and a chance at vengeance, he walked away.

Now, Hayley finds herself in a whole lot of trouble. She has no home, no job, and is on the run from people who want her dead and she isn’t quite sure why. She only knows that there is one person who can protect her, so she shows up at Nick’s doorstep asking for help. The question is, can he keep her safe from himself?

As usual, this was a completely engrossing, entertaining page-turner that I couldn’t put down. Lexi writes the most amazing characters full of sex appeal, wit, and full of life. They are alpha males who are dominant, yet tender, brilliant at their jobs, yet have demons just like the rest of us that show their vulnerable side. The women are strong yet submissive, have backbones of steel, yet are warm, loving and accepting. And oh so smart. And don’t get me started on Ian Taggart. He just brings the whole motley crew together like a dominant, wise (as*), man you never want to cross, best friend you could ever have, father. One of the best books this year, I hope the series never ends.

This book gets 5 Super, Sexy, Spy Stars

FHEO teaser 4

Nick went back to staring at the report. “Hayley’s not mine. She was Desiree’s cousin. Now she’s my client.”

Who had been tired the night before and that was why she’d said the things she’d said. This morning she’d seemed much more sensible. After she’d had some sleep and a shower and had straightened herself up, she’d been quiet and seemingly reflective. She was very likely embarrassed by what had been said the night before.

I would get safety from murderers and I would get orgasms. I’m sorry, Nicky, you’re going to tell me how that’s a bad deal for me.

He was going to make sure she understood that his protection wasn’t based on whether or not she slept with him.

Because he wasn’t sleeping with her. He couldn’t hurt her that way again.

“So she was your old lover’s cousin,” Owen mused. “The lover you weren’t exclusive with and who wouldn’t marry you. The pretty girl who looks at you like you’re the sun in the sky is her cousin.”

“She looks at me like she would look at man who can save her.”

“I can save her.” Owen’s eyes lit up, his brows waggling. “Maybe she’ll look at me like that.”

Anger flared through his system. “Don’t you dare. I told you I would take care of her.”

His arms crossed over his big chest and Nick knew he’d been had. “Well, that answers the question with more honesty. You can pretend, but you like the girl. And if you honestly don’t then you need to know that the boys got a good look at her last night. If she’s going to be hanging about, she should be ready for some serious male attention.”

“What are you talking about?”

“The lads talked it over last night and decided there’s no dibs on this one. They all saw her at pretty much the same time. They looked over that dead body and saw her walking in the hall and that was when the fighting started. We all sat down and decided no dibs on her. She’ll get to pick. You should know that Sasha and Jax have decided if she picks either of them, they’re willing to share. I don’t play that way. That’s something I do know about meself. No need for you to be telling me that tale. If there’s going to be some sharing in the bedroom, it’s going to be the traditional kind between a man and a woman and her stacked best friend. That’s what I say.”

“You tell those boys to stay away from her or they will be dealing with me. They will not like to be dealing with me. I will put up with many things from them. They can poke all the corpses they like. They can punch each other. I do not care. They touch Hayley and I will be caring.”

“Wow, now you do sound Russian. A scary Russian. Still, I think if you don’t want the girl, shouldn’t she be allowed to choose? Think about it. It could be fun.”

“Are we talking about the lost boys and their battle for the new chick?” Kayla strode in, her hair in a high ponytail. It bounced as she walked, a testament to her seemingly ever-sunny personality. “I had babysitting duty last night and they kept talking about her even after lights out. Bad boys. I had a plan though. I think we make them compete in a beauty pageant. Hayley gets to judge.”

“I’m judging a beauty pageant?” Hayley followed behind Kay, and both women were followed by Charlotte Taggart and Penelope Knight. It looked like Hayley was rapidly being accepted by the women on his team.

That was not necessarily a good thing. The women on his team could create chaos like no others.

“That sounds like fun,” Charlotte said with a smile. “I think we should require Speedos for the bathing suit competition. No boring board shorts. If Hayley’s picking a lover, she needs to see some booty.”

Hayley stopped, her cheeks going the sweetest color of pink. “Wait. What?”

Penelope put a hand on her arm. “They’re teasing you, dear. Don’t worry about it. The lads will be very polite. Though you should expect some suitors while you’re here. Especially if you come down to the dungeon.”

Now he was the one flushing. “Excuse me?”

Hayley shook her head as she joined him at the table. “It’s nothing. I was just talking to the girls. Did you get the report? Penny said the Dallas office had found something.”

He was all too aware that they weren’t alone. Damon and Ian walked in with Brody Carter and Walter Bennett. The four men settled into chairs as the women joined them. Nick held out a chair for Hayley. He would have to remember that he couldn’t leave her alone for a minute or someone would be whispering in her ear, giving her ideas she shouldn’t have.

Like visiting The Garden on a play night.

It wasn’t happening.

You know how hot it is when you have a man so in love with you that he professes that he’d even die for you? (Which, if you love him back, you’d pretty much feel the same, and you both go back and forth with that one…but I digress.) Well, how about one who would kill for you? Conrad “Con” Mercer is a hitman for the Philadelphia mob scene and an expert one at that. His one obsession is with a florist named Charlie.
He thought he’d been discreet in watching her, that no one noticed, but when Charlie is used as an unwitting pawn to bring him out of hiding, he knows he has to do everything to protect her. Charlie knows that she’s had someone watching her, but has never felt threatened by it. Now, the two of them have a target on their backs, and while trying to stay alive, they also deal with the sizzling chemistry between them.
Celia Aaron has outdone herself with Dark Protector. I was hooked from the very first page all the way through to the end. This is a darker read, but full of action, suspense, very hot sex, and yes…romance. Secondary character Dean is also a scene-stealer and very well could be great in a book of his own.
Dark Protector Gets 5 Stars for Super Suspense and Hyped up Hotness!

From the moment I saw her through the window of her flower shop, something other than darkness took root inside me. Charlie shone like a beacon in a world that had long since lost any light. But she was never meant for me, a man that killed without remorse and collected bounties drenched in blood.I thought staying away would keep her safe, would shield her from me. I was wrong. Danger followed in my wake like death at a slaughter house. I protected her from the threats that circled like black buzzards, kept her safe with kill after kill.

But everything comes with a price, especially second chances for a man like me.

Killing for her was easy. It was living for her that turned out to be the hard part.

Trigger is the first book in a new series by LP Dover about a group of assassins called the Circle of Justice. Preston Hale is the first of the group, and he’s close to going over the edge. His boss will do anything to keep him from going over it.

That’s where Emma comes in. Emma is Preston’s old college girlfriend, but he left her without even a good-bye. Now she may be the key to his salvation, if he even admits knowing her. The suspense in the book is almost as finger twisting as good as waiting for when these two will get their act together.

With a killer on the loose, Trigger has to keep Emma safe. But is it from just the killer, or also himself.

This is definitely a 5 star story!

EXCERPT

When I got downstairs to the dining room, Glenn and Wade were already there, speaking to each other in hushed tones by the large window. There were shiny plates on the table, with all sorts of silverware around them. Start from the outside and work your way in, was what I was told when it came to using the various forks and spoons. Give me just one of each and I’d be happy.

It wasn’t long before Glenn noticed me at the door and the conversation ceased. “Emma, you look lovely tonight,” he announced.

I smiled. “Thank you.”

He beckoned me over to the table and Wade held out a seat for me. I sat down and he took the one on the right, while Glenn sat on my left at the head of the table. There was only one other place setting and it was across from me.

“Wine?” Glenn asked, holding up the bottle.

I nodded. “Sure.”

He poured me a glass and I took a sip. It tasted like heaven, all fruity and crisp. It was so good I had to take another sip, and another, while we waited on the special guest. Not even a minute later, the dining room door opened and a man walked in. Only, he wasn’t just anyone.

It’d been eight years and he’d surely changed, but there was no mistaking those gray eyes. His hair was the same light brown, and mussed up like all the guys did their hair these days. However, his body looked totally different. His cream colored, long-sleeve sweater hugged a set of muscular arms, and his face was more rugged, covered in a five o’clock shadow.

I almost choked on my wine. “Oh my God.” Is it really him?

“Emma, are you okay?” Wade asked, his voice low.

“Yeah,” I whispered. “I’m fine.”

I waited for Preston to look at the table, and when his gaze finally caught mine, he paused for a slight second. In his face, I could see the friend I lost so long ago, but it vanished quickly.

Glenn and Wade both stood when Preston approached, and I shot up out of my seat, bumping the table with my jerky movements. Glenn grinned at me and then at Preston. “Preston Hale, I’d like you to meet Emma Turner. She’s my assistant. Emma, this is Preston Hale, a close family friend. His father is one of my dearest friends.”

Preston held out his hand and looked at me as if he’d never laid eyes on me before. “It’s nice to meet you.”

Was he being serious? I shook his hand and made sure to put a little extra squeeze in there for good measure. “Meet me? Surely, you remember who I am.”

Glenn’s eyes went wide. “Wait. You two already know each other?”

I nodded. “From college.” I was about to add before he up and left without a trace, but thought better of it.

Glenn chuckled and smacked a hand on Preston’s shoulder. “Well, isn’t this a small world? You’ll have to tell me some stories on this one.” He nodded my way.

Preston’s jaw clenched. “Can’t. Don’t remember her.”

My mouth dropped open; it was like being punched in the gut and slapped in the face, all at the same time. No words would come out, so I sat there with a lump in my throat. In college, he’d been a close friend. I sang with him in his band, Silent Break. We connected on stage in a way I’d never felt with anyone. I cared about him, and had even been ready to take the next step in our relationship right before he up and disappeared. I never got to tell him how I felt. Now he looked at me as if I was a stranger.

The room fell silent. I wanted to say something, but I bit my tongue. It was going to be the longest dinner of my life.

We travel once again to the Dark Isle. Kera Faire’s series about the government sanctioned dispatchers continues, and this time it’s with Rio. Short for Lothario, a.k.a Don Juan, and a few other aliases. Have you guessed what one of Rio’s methods of information extraction is? Other than poisons and strangulation that is.

He gets an assignment he’s not to thrilled about. His next target is his ex-wife Andie, who he has to drug and ‘seduce’ information out of. He’s also told that she’s a ‘hooker’ and that she’s also teaching classes. Rio finds this impossible to believe, so he goes and fetches her.

Andie left Rio because of all of the secrets. Now, she’s caught right back up in them when she finds herself shackled to Rio. The sparks fly , and misunderstandings make for some pretty amusing moments.

This was a short, holiday Dark Isle by Kera that was totally enjoyable. Of course, being in Scotland, there is Scottish slang in the book, but it only adds to the experience and makes it all the more authentic.

This book gets 5 Happy Hooker Orgasms

The Interview:

I’m sitting in a bar somewhere in Scotland. I don’t know exactly where, because I was picked up in London, blindfolded, and put on a private plane. After the plane ride and a car ride, I was brought into the bar, where I was placed into the seat and the blindfold removed. I was told to have a drink and someone would be with me shortly.

The bartender gives me the ginger-ale I asked for, and underneath, a note.

“Be outside the back door in 5 minutes”

So, I drink half my soda, nip to the restroom—somewhat weirdly marked Lasses—and by the time I make it to the car, my legs are wobbling. Me thinks there was more than Ginger in my ginger-ale. The last thing I remember is a hood going over my head as I’m placed in the back of a limo.

When I wake up, my hands are tied behind me, my ankles tied together. Well, this could get interesting. I’m in what looks like a sitting room. Then, a tall, well built man walks in the room with black, braided hair.

“Rio I presume. I certainly hope the rest of the Dispatchers look like you. (and as kinky, I mumble) So, just how did you come about that name?

And…while I’m at it, whatever made you decide to get into your…ahem..specialty?”

Rio glares. “Godalmighty not another arsy woman, why oh why do we always get those? Read the book and figure it out.”

Someone I hadn’t noticed steps up in front of him… and ohh my flicks my chin with his finger.

“Hey Ri, come one, you know why. Kera won’t dare give us pussy-wusses. This one is mine you have Andie.” He turns slightly, and smiles.

Oh god, drool and damp panties alert.

“Sweet cheeks who are you and why are you here?”

Sweet cheeks? Oh lord I’m a gonner.

Looking at the newcomer in the room almost has me totally forgetting why I am here. He’s a tall, built, mocha, and hotter than hades MacHottie.  The accent alone has me melting into a puddle of goo. However…Arsy? What in the Hell does he mean by that!

I’ve got the man I’m here to see glaring at me like I was their national insect…that midge I’ve heard about. And then, I’ve got tall, dark, and dare I say Dominant, taking ownership of me like …like…well, a Dom. I was tired, cranky, thirsty, and I had no idea why I was being treated like I was in a bad re-enactment of good cop-bad cop. So I struggled to sit up and glared right back.

“Listen, McGarrett and Dano, I was invited here. Got a nice, shiny, invite. Someone sent a pretty plane, then blindfolded me, drugged me, and now here my ass sits. I’m cold, tired, thirsty from what I believe was a double hit of knock-out juice, and If I didn’t know any better, some seasickness. “

My little outburst got me a raised eyebrow from Rio, and this odd look from the sexy guy. I’d swear he wanted to spank me or something. Or, It could be I read too many books by Kera, Raven, and that bratty Doris chick. I figure, in for a penny right?

“So…yeah, interview questions. I write a book blog, and when I can, I try to help out. Which makes me the not-arsy, definitely not a pussy-wuss, run of the mill, blogger. That’s all.”

Can anyone say Foot-in mouth? Both men just stared. Then the new guy chuckled.

“Oh this one is mine. Definitely mine.”

I put on my best shocked face as I looked back and forth between the two of them. I was trying as hard as I could to get the rope off my wrists, but I dare say I was just doing damage.

“Yours? What do you mean, yours? And what about my interview.?” I asked MacYummy.

He looked at me, considering. It was such a deep look, if you get my meaning, that I squirmed. Then he grinned. Now I know where the expression wicked evil grin came from.

“Sweet cheeks, sassing a Dom is not a good way to start. But I’ll cut you some slack as you’re unknown to me and I to you. What do you want to know?”

“I um thought I was going to talk to Rio about his and Andie’s story, Killer at Christmas.”

He winked and tugged me closer. “I’m his stand in. He had to see his lady about a small matter of some kitchen utensils and their improper use. So it’s just you and me. Ask away.”

I was going to kill Kera for this. Yup, that wine I bought her was going to have a re-enactment of the Boston Tea Party. The fishies would be getting drunk.

I was getting a bit woozy with MacHottie being so close. He was hot, Dominant, and that accent. Being tied up wasn’t helping me one bit.

“First, how about taking the restraints off? Then, maybe something to drink? As far as the book goes, my first question would be, if Rio’s job is to seduce information out of a target, how does that bode for a marriage? “

The look he gave me would fell a bigger person than me at twenty paces.

“Who says it is?”

Oh hell, hardly started and put his back up. That flustered me.

“Well in the book…” I stopped suddenly.

He narrowed his eyes. “Ah yes in the book. Well, sweet cheeks you need to read on. All I will say we do what we have to do. Our ladies accept this or go. There is no middle ground. A Dispatcher is what we are. Not necessarily what our ladies want but if they love us, as we do them, they understand why we do what we do.” he paused and his eyes went dark. A sad sort of dark that I wished I knew how to banish. “And when.” He visibly shook himself. “Ah well, ce la vie. Next question. Then I ask you one.”

Obviously, I’d hit upon a nerve, that I’m guessing , involved a woman. One he probably wasn’t over. But I wasn’t going there, I wasn’t TMZ. I scooted myself up and back as much as being tied up allowed.

“You know, this was supposed to be with Rio, I understand you all have healthy libidos, but seriously. And speaking of libidinous pursuits, are all of you Dominant here? Is it a hiring qualification by Crabtree?”

It was getting awfully warm in here, and it seemed no matter how far I moved away, it wasn’t far enough. What did I agree to?

“Water…please?”

He put a sports bottle to my lips. “Sip it, no choking.” He waited until I nodded I’d had enough and then stared at me intently. “You my love, agree to whatever I decided unless you cry red. That means it’s over. All of it. You wave bye-bye and disappear off into the sunset.”

“Just like that?”

I swayed and he chuckled. I was beginning to distrust that darned laugh.

“That sweet cheeks is question number three. Which one do you want me to answer?”

Damn him.

“Are you all Doms.” I mumbled, sweating from excitement and arousal.

“Are we what?” That one question made me go hot, cold and hot again. How could I forget?

“Are you all Doms, Sir?”

Well now let me see.” He prowled around me like a panther ready to strike. “I can’t answer for everyone, but probably. I am at any rate.” He hunkered down and took my chin between his thumb and forefinger. “My turn now. Does the fact I am dominant make you wet?”

How to answer that without incriminating myself. And did it really matter?

Damn it! Heads were rolling when…if I got out of this kerfluffle. ‘It’s just a simple interview’ she said. ‘Think of it as a vacation.’ She said. ‘Nothing will happen you don’t agree..’ ohhh, I’m gonna have some words.

He was right in my face, and I tried to look away, but he had me gripped too firmly. Was that a whiny little moan that just came out of my mouth? “Answer me Sweet Cheeks, last warning”

“If I say yes, does that get me three more questions…Sir?

“No it gets you a striped ass, if you’re not careful. I think we need to terminate this here and now. When we discover who and what we might be, say in a month or three, we could reconvene for more. “Meanwhile,” he winked. “Rio and Andie are happy,Dark Isle is safe and us? Well we have some exploring to do.”
