Now Available! Surrendering Her Heart by Erika Reed

Surrendering Her Heart Erika Reed

After feeling unloved and rejected by anyone she’d ever loved in life, Grace Adams took matters into her own hands and decided she needed a new life. It was by luck alone she landed a job in a town she happened to just be passing through on the path to her new future. It was a mere coincidence when she came across a ‘waitress wanted’ sign in one of the restaurants she stopped to eat at. It never occurred to her that she would get the job on the spot from the two sexy and extremely attractive owners of the restaurant and bar, Hunter Owens and Brody Michaels.

Hunter and Brody were best friends who had always dreamed of one day running their very own successful business together. After discovering Grace’s living conditions, they offered her room and board; in exchange she would help maintain their house. The more time they spent with Grace the more they could no longer deny the attraction they had for her. But would they scare her off once she found out what they expected of her as their woman? Few had tried to tame the two irresistible men, Hunter and Brody, but they had never formed a deep connection with anyone before Grace.

Will Grace finally allow the two men to break down the wall she put up after her bad breakup, and realize that Hunter and Brody only want to care for her, or will her past catch up with her and ruin everything?

Seeking My Destiny (Doms Of Genesis 8) by Jenna Jacob

Synopsis

By day, I’m Sasha Evans, successful business owner and entrepreneur.
By night, I’m Destiny, Club Genesis’ masochistic bottom who craves pain and won’t kneel to just any Top.
The subs around me are all pairing up with the Doms of their dreams. I can’t even find someone to whip away my stress and grant me peace. It’s driving me mad!
But you know the old saying, Never tempt fate…
Falling into bed with my tall, ruggedly handsome business associate, Lawson Pratt, isn’t the smartest move I’ve ever made, but he certainly melted me with pleasure.
And when compelling Sadist Parker Cane offered me a contract, promising to make all my most agonizing fantasies come true, I was torn.
How’s a girl supposed to choose between tingling passion and sweet torment?
What if I can have both men work their magic on me?
It sounds great—in theory. And it’s feeling that way too—until a menacing madman from the past returns to steal not only my bliss…but my life.

Review

Jenna Jacob is back with one of my favorite BDSM series ever written. It’s one that I’ve been following ever since the very first book. And when an author can make a character that you’ve come to despise end up being one that you fall in love with? That just goes to show how amazing she is!

Destiny was the club sub that we’ve seen in past books give Tony, Ian and James, and then Sam’s subs difficulty. (Of course, she gets tossed aside by these doms for their new subs.) She’s the difficult masochist who can’t find a sadist to tame her. But owner Mika has a plan in place. And lucky Destiny finds herself with a choice between two men, the sadist Cane and her business assistant Law. But things aren’t quite as they seem, and Destiny learns some valuable lessons on submission.

Jenna has outdone herself in this eighth book of the Doms Of Genesis series! I really liked Destiny by the end of this. (Heck, I liked her pretty early on.) Of course, it wouldn’t be fun without some suspense as Kerr makes his way back into the picture, but the Doms of Genesis are done with him!

At Your Service (Masters and Mercenaries ~Topped Book 4) by Lexi Blake

Juliana O’Neil’s promising future was burned away in the heat of battle. She had been an officer with a bright future in the military, but now she is struggling to survive. Her husband gone and her career in shambles, she finds a job at Top as a hostess and tries to put together the pieces of her life. The last thing she needs is any kind of male attention, but she can’t help but be amused at her neighbor and coworker’s lothario antics. Not that she would have anything to do with him, at least not for more than one night.

Javier Leones doesn’t understand monogamy. No woman could ever be enough for his endless libido, but he has to admit Juliana has his attention. For reasons he doesn’t fully understand, he can’t seem to get the gorgeous redhead with the sad eyes out of his head. After one scorching night together, he realizes he’ll never be able to get her out of his system. But with his reputation, he fears she’ll never see him as more than a one-night stand.

When their passions collide, these new lovers will be forced to confront Juliana’s past and come to terms with Javier’s present. Will they find their way or will this reservation be canceled at the last minute?

Lexi Blake has brought back the characters of her Masters and Mercenaries Topped series for their fourth book! And if you all weren’t aware, the McKay/Taggart gang is going to soon be infiltrated by a bunch of new characters when a multi-author crossover series with the McKay/Taggart bunch happens next spring. So Lexi has gotten the party started here in At Your Service.

Our hero is Javier, a dom who likes his women, but wants to settle down, especially with his new neighbor, veteran Jules O’Neil. Jules works with Javi, but even after one night with him, she’s not so sure. He’s got his reputation, a brother who can’t deal with his own problems and is causing more of them, and she’s still having self esteem problems from losing her hand. It’s up to Javi to prove to Jules that he’s changed his ways. He also has to deal with his brother, who is in more trouble than he realizes. Of course, we get cameos from some of the totally amazing McKay/Taggart crew, especially Kai.

Lexi writes another hit book that has probably the best BDSM club EVER, but she also tackles issues that veterans deal with with amazing grace and sensitivity.

All alone with the storm. Maybe she should call Kai. And ask him to get out in the middle of this? That seemed pretty selfish especially since she knew exactly how poorly driving in storms could go.

A hard flash of white light made her jump back.

Nope. She wasn’t going there. She was going to stay in the here and now, and that meant finding a flashlight and trying to get some candles lit. Someone was out there working on getting the power back on, and then she would ride out the storm watching rom coms and falling asleep on the couch. It was going to be okay. Deep breath. It was going to be okay.

A few moments later she’d found her one flashlight and had a nice set of candles out, and she was faced with the problem of lighting the suckers. Oh, she had a big box of matches, but she’d never struck a match without her left hand.

A lighter would be easier. She could figure out a lighter maybe. Jules tried holding the box against the table with her stump while she struck the match with her right hand. She fumbled, the action so unnatural it made her slip up and break the match.

And the second one.

And the third one.

Tears pierced her eyes, but she wasn’t going to shed them. She was going to figure this out or she would make due with the flashlight. It was all about adapting. That was what she had to do. Adapt.

She wasn’t going to let this beat her. Normally she was tough. It had happened and she dealt with it, but between the storm and the conversation with Suzanne the day before about her mother and the sweetness of flirting with a handsome man she couldn’t have, she was feeling awfully vulnerable. She wasn’t going to sit here in the dark and cry.

A knock on the door made her gasp and jump.

Fuck. She wasn’t like this. She hated this…this anxiety she got when it rained. It was weakness and she couldn’t abide it.

If you walk away from this you’ll ruin your life, Juliana. Don’t think I’ll watch you do it. You go through with this and you do it on your own. Am I understood?

Sometimes she felt like she was still seven years old, and if she could just get her mom’s attention everything would be okay.

Jules gripped the flashlight and walked across her apartment to the door. It was likely one of the neighbors coming to check on her. Actually, that was an excellent idea. She could go down and see if Mrs. Gleeson needed some company. There were some elderly residents she could check on and a single mom she’d met at the end of the hall. She could see if she could be of any assistance and that would get her through the night.

She opened the door expecting to see anyone but the man she saw standing there.

Javier Leones. He had a flashlight in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other. He was wearing jeans and a button down that he’d left undone enough she could see a nice swath of golden brown skin. His hair was deliciously mussed, as though he’d taken a shower and simply rubbed a towel over it to get it dry.

He was big and male and so sexy it hurt to look at him, and Jules realized she could do something else to take her mind off things.

Those plump, sensual lips of his broke into a bright smile. “I thought you might like some company. I know I would. I actually don’t have any candles, so I was sitting in my living room with this sad one flashlight. You look like a woman who likes some candles.”

But she couldn’t light them. She hadn’t figured that part out.

His face fell and he walked into her place, closing and locking the door behind him. “Hey, what’s wrong? It’s okay if you don’t have any candles. It’s cool. Two flashlights are better than one.”

He set the flashlight and wine bottle down and moved into her space, his hands coming up to cup her shoulders. “Jules, what’s wrong?”

She had to be stronger than this. She shook her head. “Nothing. I’m fine.”

His jaw tightened. “Don’t. Please don’t. I live with a stubborn asshole who won’t let me help him in any way. I get that we’ve only known each other for a few weeks, but I thought we were friends. You help me out all the time. You’re kind to me. Fucking let me be kind to you. I spend every day trying to help someone who won’t let me. Please let me feel like I’m worth something.”

If he’d said anything else, joked about the weather or told her to suck it up, she could have, but he’d opened a door. He’d been vulnerable and honest, and she found she couldn’t pay that back with stubbornness.

“I have candles and I can’t figure out how to light them.” Tears rolled down her face. She was vulnerable. All the time. Even when she pretended like she wasn’t.

“You can’t…” he began and then he looked down. Instead of stepping back and giving her space, he drew his hand down her arm, warming her skin where he touched her. It was dark but the moon was full and gave enough light to see the outline of his face. There was no look of horror there. He caressed her arm until he got to the place where she’d been split apart and sewn back together unwhole. He brought it up and wrapped it against his palm, his fingers closing around it until the whole thing was surrounded with his warmth. “You haven’t figured out how to do it yet. Probably hasn’t come up or you would know what to do. How long since you lost your hand?”

“A year and a half,” she said. He was touching her there. No one had touched her there except her doctors and therapists.

Come to think of it, no one had touched her at all since before the accident. Had it really been so long since she’d felt warm flesh against her own? He was so close, close enough that all she would have to do was go up on her toes to brush her lips against his.

Would that be wrong? As long as she remembered who she was dealing with, why couldn’t she take a few moments of respite for herself? If he wanted her.

Dale Mayer

Tyson’s Treasure: A SEALs of Honor World Novel

Release Date Nov. 07, 2017

Blurb:

Welcome to Tyson’s Treasure, book 11 in Heroes for Hire, reconnecting readers with the unforgettable men from SEALs of Honor in a new series of action-packed, page turning romantic suspense that fans have come to expect from USA TODAY Bestselling author Dale Mayer.

Tyson lost his wife and child several years ago, and he knows it’s time to move on… So when his wife’s best friend barrels into his new life and he finds out she’s in trouble – as in serious stalker trouble – he steps up because he owes it to his late wife. Only he quickly finds out he wants to be at Kai’s side – any way he can.

Kai has wanted Tyson for so damn long, but from the first moment her best friend saw him first, the two were like a lock and key. When Kai sets her eyes on him for the first time in years while doing a demonstration for a new training program her company developed, she realizes her feelings haven’t changed.

But her life has changed, and she has a huge issue she doesn’t want anyone to know about. After all, she’s got a badass skill set… She can handle a stalker on her own… right?

Or maybe not. As the two delve deeper into the Kai’s troubles, they find out things are much more complicated than they seem – and much more-deadly.

KG Logo

Dale Mayer is quickly becoming one of the reasons that military/security books are fast becoming one of my favorite genres to read. I love her Heroes for Hire Series, though I did come in on it a little late. (Just means I get that many more books to read!) Book 11 is about ex-SEAL Tyson Morgan.

Tyson is just getting over the death of his wife and child 2 years prior and has left the SEALs. He’s rejoined life by joining Legendary Security, and things start looking up when his wife’s best friend, weapons specialist Kai comes to Legendary to show off her company’s latest VR trainer. He realizes he’s attracted to her, especially when he finds out that Kai has a stalker. Kai has been attracted to Tyson since he and her best friend met and married weeks later. Now, with Tyson helping to find her stalker and by her side 24/7, she realizes it’s more than just attraction. But her stalker has other ideas, and wants her out of the picture.

This was an exciting mystery to watch unravel as we try to figure out just who the stalker is. I had my suspicions, and I was partially right as to what was going on. Ms. Mayer managed to turn this into a roller coaster ride of suspense with a wonderful love story thrown in the mix. Plus, we get a little preview of the next book, which is just enough to tip you over that edge of the seat you’ve been sitting on the whole time.

Navy SEAL Dex Evans has a problem. His buddies think it’s a riot when they sign him up for a dating service behind his back. But who would have thought that with a profile like SailorBoy69 he’d snag a woman who was hysterically funny and gorgeous. Too bad she was also skittish as all hell. Dex fears that when she finds out his profile was a set-up, his happily ever after could sink to the bottom of the ocean.Single mother, Kenna Wright was in way over her head. She’d spent years putting her child first while ignoring her needs. So what was she thinking responding to the flirtatious email? Luckily for her, when she is stuck on a project with Dex, he’s even better in person than he’d been on his online profile. But can she believe this sexy SEAL when he says he’s looking for more than a fling?

When one of her co-workers is murdered and it looks like Kenna might be the next one in the killer’s crosshairs, Dex is determined to keep her safe. But with a target on her back, it’s really hard to keep a shield over her heart.

……. Hello SailorBoy69,
SNMP stands for So Not Mary Poppins. Take it to heart. My photo is me, but it’s pretty much a fake, since it took me two hours and twenty dollars worth of product to achieve the look. If we were to meet in person, I probably wouldn’t look anywhere close to this, so soak in this picture. Actually, don’t worry, we won’t meet, but I’ll get to that.
Here’s me in a nutshell. I live in the good part of town because I work my ass off handling my full-time job as a nurse, plus a part-time gig, that’s so my son can go to school in a decent school district. Being a good mother is the most important thing in my life, so I have no earthly idea why I’m responding to your profile since I don’t have time to date. Did I mention I have a kid, two jobs and really don’t look like this?
I like the fact that you’re serving our country. That’s part of the reason I’m reaching out to you. But the real reason I’m writing, is that I’m ninety-nine point nine percent sure you won’t respond, so this is a safe letter to write. I can feel good that I’ve finally put myself out there, without enduring the humiliation of a first date, which I’ll fail at, because I’ll never in a million years figure out how to reach this level of pretty again.
But in all seriousness, I wanted to take aim for a good guy, and you’re it. I like the fact you’re in the Navy. I like the fact, that you work with disenfranchised kids. I think you’re a nice man. Hell, I don’t even care if that’s not your real picture, because responsible men do it for me. Of course in my world they’re like mythical unicorns, they just don’t exist, at least not for me. But the dream of a responsible man makes my panties damp. See I can say this safely, cause you’re not going to respond, and I’m never going to meet you.
So, that’s my story SailorBoy69. Just know that out there in this big bad world a woman thinks you’re pretty exceptional, except for the atrocious cyber name you’ve given yourself of course. Now, if you have a thought of responding, for God’s sake don’t. Remember, it’s me. I have a kid, two jobs, and I’ll look like crap, and you’ll ruin the fantasy.
― Signed, So Not Mary Poppins

Caitlyn O’Leary is one of my favorite military romance writers and her SEAL series are the absolute best! No matter if it’s Midnight Delta or the Boys from Black Dawn, her SEALs are Alpha, caring, and take charge of every situation to keep their women safe.
Dex Evans is set up on a dating site as a joke, but a response from a woman who calls herself  “So Not Mary Poppins” catches his interest. Kenna Wright sends Sailorboy69 a funny and charming letter, not expecting a response. The mother of a 15 year old son and a nurse, she gave up on dating and just wants a good life for her son, but Dex slowly integrates himself into her life. Even if she denies she needs him, her son, her mom, and the spunky elderly Rosalie all know he’s great for her. But a stalker is determined to have her, and Dex may not be able to keep her safe!
This was such a terrific read, and I was totally in love with Dex! There were times I wanted to shake Kenna for how she treated Dex, but he was so wonderful with her and her amazing son Andrew. And Rosalie? Such a hoot! You’ll love this book, even if you haven’t read any of the other books, but you’ll want to go back and get them all!

Inked Memories (Montgomery Ink 8) Carrie Ann Ryan

About INKED MEMORIES

The Montgomery Ink series by NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan continues when the final Denver Montgomery sibling refuses to fall for his brother’s former flame—the company’s new plumber.

Wes Montgomery watched his entire family fall in love, and now finds himself ready to settle down. Except the one person he seems to find chemistry with is not only his twin’s ex, she also works for Montgomery Inc. But when the two find themselves in one compromising situation after another, Wes realizes he’s having second thoughts about the dynamic woman who’s burst her way into his life. Sure she sets off his temper, but she also makes him hot in every other way possible.

Jillian Reid never loved her best friend like everyone thought she should, so she pushed him away so he could have his future. Now, despite fighting it, she finds herself attracted to the one man she shouldn’t. When her father’s health takes a turn for the worse, and a danger no one saw coming show its face, she’s forced to turn to Wes for help. The two of them have fought off their attraction long enough, and each cave to the desire. But this enemies-to-lovers tale might have an ending no one ever dreamed of.

KG Logo

Alas, all good things must come to an end, or great ones, such as this series. The last Denver Montgomery Wes has watched as his family has paired off, (or even formed a triad in one case!) and now he’s the last single Montgomery. Unlike the family who have been tattooing away at Montgomery Ink, he’s with the other half at Montgomery Inc, a construction company.

In walks his brother’s ex-friends with bennies partner Jillian, his plumber. The employee who he argues with every time he sees her. He’s also got a mad crush on her. Jillian feels the same. While I wasn’t sure how I’d feel with a brother’s ex-lover story, Carrie Ann did this last Montgomery story up right, giving the end of this series the oomph it needed to make us all beg for more!

Title: Most Eligible Bastard

Most Eligible Bastard, an all-new standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author Annika Martin is LIVE!

AMMostEligibleBastardCover525x8_HIGH

He’s a powerful billionaire CEO who built the family business into an empire. The money doesn’t matter to him, but the company is his life. And then his eccentric mother wills it all to her tiny dog.

********

I’m Vicky, the dog whisperer. (Not really, but that’s what my elderly neighbor always says.) When she dies, she surprises everybody by leaving a corporation worth billions to her dog, Smuckers. With me as his spokesperson.

Suddenly I go from running my Etsy store to sitting in an elegant Wall Street boardroom with Smuckers in my lap. And my neighbor’s son, Henry Locke, aka New York’s most eligible bachelor, glaring across the table at me.

Rumor has it Henry’s a business genius who’s as talented in the bedroom as he is in the boardroom. Sure, he’s gorgeous. Sex-in-a-seven-thousand dollar suit. But…

He’s arrogant and infuriating.

He refuses to listen to me when I insist I didn’t con his mother.

He thinks he can bully me, buy me off, control me, even seduce me.

Henry may have the women of Manhattan eating out of the palm of his hand, but I’m so over entitled rich guys who think they own the world.

No way will his wicked smile be charming ME out of my panties.

His wicked…devastating…impossible-to-resist smile.

Oh well, who needs panties anyway?

Most Eligible Bastard is probably one of the best romantic comedies that I’ve read in a long time. Anika Martin has written a funny, but sad at times story of a woman, a rich a-hole, and a dog who has quite a bit to say.

Vicky has been the dog whisperer for cranky Bernadette’s dog Smuckers for 3 years. When Bernadette passes, she leaves Smuckers an incredible legacy. Uber-rich business owner Henry Locke thinks Vicky scammed his mother, so he’s going to do anything to get her to drop out.

Vicky has dealt with jerky rich men before, and Henry learns little by little that maybe Vicky isn’t who he thought she was. But his family is determined to oust her any way they can. It’s a wonderful read that I just couldn’t put down, and Smuckers had me in rib=splitting stitches!

Excerpt:

She glares at me now. “I can’t believe you tried to strip poor Smuckers of his vote. Do you have no decency?”

“When it comes to protecting this company?” I say. “No.”

Her gaze intensifies. “Just no?”

“None at all,” I say. “No decency whatsoever. Nada, if you will.”

Her pretty lips part. It’s shock. Maybe a little bit awe.

I give her an amused smile, adjusting my jacket sleeve over my cuff just so. The suit was tailored by a man who charges three hundred bucks an hour and is worth every penny.

“Uh,” she says. “You think you’re all that? You’re not.”

“Oh, I am all that,” I say. “I very much am. And for the record, I will crush you in the end.”

“Smuckers had this medication once,” she says. “We tried to hide it in his food, and he spit it out. No matter what we did, he’d spit it out.” She puts one finger on the paper with the new amendment and slides it back across the desk. “Smuckers doesn’t like when people try to fool him. That’s his message for you.”

“I have a message for Smuckers.” I put my finger on it and slide it back across to her. “Smuckers needs to know that we have a private investigator on this case. Smuckers might not have very nice food to eat if you ended up in prison.”

Finally she looks scared.

Brett swoops in. “I say we settle this. One-time offer from me personally.” He writes the number—$4,500,000.00. “This offer expires in two minutes.”

My heart pounds. She needs to take offer. We’ve shown how close she can come to losing everything.

She looks at the paper.

She’s all alone caring for that sister of hers. She’s poor—we have her banking information; we know it for a fact. She has every reason in the world to take it. Yet she hesitates.

“This is our last offer,” Brett says. “After this, we’ll take the company from you, and you’ll get nothing.”

She raises her brown eyes to me. It’s me she’s really dealing with. I like that she knows that.

“You know what Smuckers hates even more than being fooled?” she says.

My heart pounds. She almost lost everything to me, and now she’s going to tell me a dog story?

“He hates being threatened,” she says. “And bullied. He really, really hates it.”

“Well he’s going to have to get used to it,” I hear myself saying. “He’s used to bubbles and bows and sunny parks but he’s in the jungle now. There are animals who are faster and stronger and smarter than he is. Animals who will dominate him easily—savagely, even.”

“Then you don’t know Smuckers very well.”

“Oh, I know all about Smuckers, and I’d suggest he practice rolling over. Baring his belly for the superior predator.” I lower my voice. “Begging sweetly for mercy.”

The color heightens in her face. This shouldn’t be fun.

But oh, it is.

I keep going. “Smuckers may think he can request packets and bylaws and get up to speed, but he can’t compete here. He doesn’t have the skills.”

“Smuckers thinks owning fifty-one percent is the best skill to have,” she says.

Master Me, Please. (Miami Masters 2) by BJ Wane

masterme

Krista Matthews thought nothing could be harder than losing her husband and Master to suicide until the man he’d entrusted her care to left her also.  By the time Dr. Dax Hayes returned from an overseas, volunteer medical tour, she thought she was over his deflection and ready to re-immerse herself in the BDSM world she needed and missed so much without his help.  One scene proved how wrong she was and after Master Dax’s timely rescue, she agrees to let him tutor her back into the lifestyle.  She hadn’t counted on her growing feelings for the strict Dom or his refusal to take her over completely, like she craved.

Dr. Dax Hayes fell for Krista Matthews the minute he looked into her blue eyes and saw the sated, content look she shared with her husband, Dr. Kurt Matthews.  He managed to keep his feelings and lust under control until his friend and colleague asked him to join him in gifting Krista with a menage for her birthday.  Knowing it was a mistake, but unable to resist, Dax succumbs to the temptation of this one-time scene, never realizing where it would lead.  A year later, after sealing his fate with a questionable act, he flees on a guilt trip only to return and discover nothing had changed-he still wanted Krista Matthews with an ache that wouldn’t be assuaged by anyone else.

Unable to resist stepping in when she gets herself in trouble, Dax again gives in to temptation and aids the one woman he can never have back into the lifestyle her submissive nature needed.  When Krista learns the truth, will her feelings be strong enough to forgive him, or did he gamble everything only to lose it all in the end?

DISCLAIMER: This book is intended for adults only. It contains elements of power exchange, BDSM, including explicit sexual scenes and anal play. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase this book.

EXCERPT 1 (Mild)

Voices nearing the surgery room filtered through the swinging doors and one deep baritone sent a shiver of awareness dancing under Krista’s suddenly tight skin.  She turned just as Dax pushed through them and her first thought was nothing had changed.  He still towered over her, his coal black hair still curled around his ears and nape and those penetrating green eyes set in a tanned, chiseled face could still draw a quick, heated response from her.  She wasn’t sure she could lay claim to being female if her heart rate didn’t pick up speed or she didn’t go slightly damp when Dr. Dax Hayes walked into a room.

He left without a word for a year and a half.  The reminder helped her to believe that instant response meant nothing nor changed a thing.  Inhaling until she couldn’t hold any more air in her lungs, she nodded and managed a small smile of welcome.

“Dr. Hayes.  It’s good to have you back again.”

Crap.  Krista had been about to congratulate herself on managing a cool, but friendly greeting when he fisted those large hands on his lean hips and cocked his head.  His bland, generic reply belied his intense regard that turned the butterflies of unwanted pleasure in her stomach to jitters of long neglected need.

“It’s nice to be back.  How have you been, Krista?”

So proper and reserved from a man whose cock she’d had in her mouth.  “Good.  You?” she returned just as detached, her heart aching for the easy friendship they shared before both he and Kurt deserted her.  She felt as lost and alone at this moment of stiff formality as she had at her husband’s funeral.

He stiffened and gazed at her for another silent moment, as if he too found this initial meeting disappointing.  “Better, now that I’m stateside again.  Let’s just say my tour reinforced how lucky we are as opposed to some parts of the world.”  Dax stepped forward, his eyes softening as he said, “Krista, I…”

The resident and nurse entered, and he clamped his mouth shut, yanking his eyes off her with an abruptness that allowed Krista to release her pent-up breath.

EXCERPT 2 (Mild)

“Why didn’t you stop?” Dax growled at the other man, each of them positioned at Krista’s sides and reaching to undo the cuffs.

“I didn’t hear her,” he snapped in defense, his posture as rigid and unapologetic as his icy tone.  “She should’ve spoken up louder.”

Dax snapped his mouth shut and turned his attention to Krista’s shaken, perspiration damp body as she collapsed into his arms.  Regardless of the less than favorable circumstances and his guilt, it felt damn good to feel the press of her soft, lush curves again.  Lust joined his rage, the two volatile emotions a bad combination when they revolved around her.  Wrapping one arm around her slender shoulders, he allowed her to bury her face in his shoulder for now as he reached for the clothes the Dom handed out.

“My apologies.”

Nodding, Dax watched the man stalk off without a backward glance and gritted his teeth against the urge to snap at him again.  His indifference to Krista’s struggles proved what an asinine Dom he was, but nothing else.  He sure as hell didn’t intend to call him back to fulfill his duties and take care of his sub.  That job just landed in his arms, and he wouldn’t turn away from it this time like he had after Kurt’s death.  Temporarily, for good or bad, she’d just become his to see to, at least for now.

“Get dressed.  We’re leaving.”

EXCERPT 3 (Tame)

You had no trouble submitting to Master Dax.  That reminder got under Krista’s skin, and it didn’t help when she scanned the lot for her car and spotted Dax getting out of his.  The quick, startling stab of jealousy as she imagined him inside with someone else caught her off guard.  She’d never been plagued with that emotion before, why now?  She stood rooted in place and watched him walk straight toward her with purpose etched on his dark face instead of surprise at seeing her there.  Irritation bubbled over, eradicating her initial reaction.  Wasn’t it bad enough she couldn’t even bring herself to accept another Dom’s invitation tonight without the memory of last weekend intruding?  If he thought she’d turn around and join him in the club after the way he’d made it clear all week he wanted nothing to do with her, he had another think coming.  She may still crave dominance and thrive on submitting, but she wouldn’t be a doormat for any man to trample on.

“Fancy seeing you here, Doctor Hayes,” Krista greeted him, proud of the way she could set aside the warm flush spreading through her body with his nearness well enough to keep her voice steady.  She missed the easy rapport they shared before he left.

“I thought you realized how unsafe these clubs can be for a woman alone?”  The rebuke, stated in his deep, firm voice made her square her shoulders and curse the compulsion to sink to her knees in apology for displeasing him.  It was yet another sign she’d waited too long to get her act together.

“It was never a problem before, I mean, before I met Kurt,” she clarified so he’d know she’d played before her marriage.  “Enjoy your evening, Doctor.”

“Cut the crap, Krista,” Dax snapped, his frustration evident in the way he tunneled those long fingers through his ink-black hair and his green eyes glittered with that undefinable emotion she didn’t understand.

“I’m not the one who asked for a different surgeon to assist, Dr. Hayes.  Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’d like to get home.”

“Wait.”  The hand he laid on her upper arm burned her skin, her automatic halt at his command heated her face and the ripple of longing going through her head left her deflated.  It seemed she couldn’t win with him.

“Let’s talk.  Are you familiar with Casey’s diner?”

The invitation took Krista by surprise and she sucked in a breath as hope dashed away the remnants of her annoyance with him.  If he wanted to be just friends, she’d take it.  It would be better than the cool indifference he’d shown her the past few days.  “Anyone who’s been out past 2:00 am on a weekend night has been to Casey’s.”  The all-night diner boasted the best pie on this side of Miami.

“Meet me there.  Please.”

Since he was making an effort, so would she, Krista decided.  What could it hurt?  “Okay.  See you there.”  Stepping around him, she hastened to her car before common sense told her she was making a mistake and setting herself up to get hurt again.  Since when did common sense have anything to do with her desires?

Excerpt 4 (Explicit)

A light mist began to fall that neither of them heeded as Dax belabored her butt with a volley of hard swats, the blossoming, throbbing welcome pain stripping Krista of all defenses.  She didn’t want the need that flared to life with the fire in his vivid gaze, and turning her back on it, and him hadn’t gotten her far.  All it had taken was the light pressure of his hand on her throat and his deep voice giving her a choice that was really no choice at all.  She was beginning to think she hadn’t had a choice where Master Dax was concerned since the night Kurt invited him into their home.  The connection had always been there, those erotic hours just cemented it.  That night hadn’t threatened her marriage or altered her feelings for her husband, but had ignited an ember that flared into a flame the night he rescued her at The Dungeon and put his hands on her again.

Her buttocks swelled under his pelting hand, the cool, light rain keeping the heat level down, but not her response.  She leaned into the hand wrapped around her throat, loved the tight constraint that proved his mastery over her and reminded her how much she’d missed wearing a collar.

“You drove me to this,” he growled in her ear, pressing his erection against her throbbing cheeks.  “I can’t turn back, can’t resist you again, even though I know I should.”

He palmed one sore buttock and nipped her earlobe as she asked, “Why?” not understanding.

“Because this can’t end well for either of us.  Just remember I warned you of that, because there’s no going back now,” he rasped.

The deep thrust of three fingers drove Krista to her toes and tore a gasp from her tight throat.  And then his cock was there, pushing past her swollen pussy lips, her copious juices easing his way.  A booming thunder clap rent the still night as he filled her with one, fully penetrating surge.  She pushed against the damp glass to aid her balance, watching his intent face in the clear pane as he drove into her over and over.

So long, it’s been so long, was all she could think as she embraced his rough possession and basked in the pleasure on his face reflected in the glass.  That look alone would’ve been enough for her, but added to the driving, steady force of his thick, rigid length, back and forth over her clit and up and down her sheath, she found herself on the cusp of climax within moments.  She’d be sore tomorrow, his size alone ensured that.  When added to the rough urgency behind his fucking, she’d be lucky if she could walk.  And she wouldn’t have it any other way.
